[Description]
Iwakura Castle is a flatland castle located in Shimohon Town, Iwakura City, Aichi Province. It is said that the castle was built by Oda Toshihiro during Bunmei 11 year (1479).

Mr. Oda of Iwakura who ruled Owari upper 4 towns worked together with the master of Kiyoshu Castle who ruled Owari down 4 towns to support Owari guardian Mr. Shiba. Nobunaga’s family originally served the master of Kiyoshu.

Nobunaga’s father Nobuhide gradually gathered influence. Koji 2 year (1556), Nobunaga’s younger brother [Oda Nobuyuki] had conflict with Nohide, and Mr. Oda of Iwakura [Oda Nobuyasu] supported Nobuyuki. Therefore Nobuyasu became the enermy of Nobunaga.

Eiroku 1 year (1558), [Oda Nobukata] who took over Nobuyasu defeated Nobunaga at [the Battle of Ukino], and in March the next year Eiroku 2 year (1559) Iwakura Castle was fell down by Nobunaga’s attack. After that, Iwakura Castle became abandoned.

[Iwakura Castle Site] and [Oda Ise Mori Castle Site] monument is built on the current ruins. In addition, it is said that the castle is surrounded by double empty moats.
