[Description]
Zen Castle is a hill castle located in Kasukawa Town, Maebashi City, Gunma Province.
It was built by Mr. Kashiwade, Miyoshi Yasunobu’s offspring. Castle built year is unknown, but in Chokyo 1 year (1487) it already existed.

Benmei 12 year (1480), being attacked by Sano Masatsuna, the castle was fell down for a period, and thanks for [Yokose Narishige]’s reinforcement, [Kashiwade Mikawanokami] was returned to Zen Castle. After that, it was ruled by [Mr. Yura].

Genki 3 year (1572), he followed Uesugi Kenshin, the castle owner [Kashiwade Souji] died when attacked Shimotsuke Country. His son [Harumatsu Maru] took over, however, it was attacked by Mr. Hojo and he escaped to Mayabashi Castle. And since then, Mr. Kashiwade was destroyed.

Tensho 2 year (1574), Uesugi Kenshin got back Zen Castle and [Kido Tadatomo] entered. Tensho 6 year (1578), due to Uesugi Kenshin died, Mr. Hojo occupied the castle again and [Kawada Bizenshu] was the castle owner.

Tensho 8 year (1580), when [Otate Chaos] occurred, Takeda Katsuyori belonged to [Uesugi Kagekatsu], and controlled Mayabashi Castle, Ougo Castle, Yamaue Castle and Isezaki Castle. At that time, being attacked by Katsuyori’s army, the castle became abandoned.

Residential area is built in Current castle ruins. There are only a few moats, soil base, bridges left. And Castle Site Garden is also being built.
