Miyazaki Castle
It was Mr. Ito’s castle during Sengoku Era and later became Takahashi Mototane’s residence after Sekigahara Battle.

[Description]
Miyazaki Castle is a mountain castle located in Ikeuchi Town, Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Province.
The castle built year is unknown, but it is said that the castle was built in Kenmu 2 year (1335) by [Suien•Jien], it is also called [Ikeuchi Castle].

During Kenmu Period, the castle was fell down for being attacked by [Tsuchimochi Nobuhide] of the North. After that, it was Mr. Tsuchi’s castle. In Bunan 4 year (1446), [Ito Suketaka] carried out a strategy and appointed his vassal [Ochiai Hikozaemon] as the castle owner.

Tenmon 5 year (1536), the main castle [Sadowara Castle] which belonged to the master of Mr. Ito [Ito Yoshisuke], was burnt, as a result, he moved the main castle to Miyazaki. In addition, it was set up as the base of Obi Castle attack. Tensho 5 year (1577), Shimazu Yoshihisa and Yoshihiro started moving to the north, and Mr. Ito gradually destroyed.

During this time, [Miyazaki Castle] was also the residence of Mr. Shimazu, and [Iwai Kakuken] was the castle ower. Tensho 15 year (1587), Toyotomi Hideyoshi launched Kyushu Battle, Mr. Shimazu was relieved from Samo•Ousumi and part of Hinata, Miyazaki Castle became the sub-castle of [Takahashi Mototane] and [Gondo Tanemori] was the castle officer.

Keicho 5 year (1600), since Mr. Takahashi was initially given to [Ishida Mitsunari] at Sekigahara Battle, he was attacked by [Inazu Shigemasa] and the castle fell down. However, since Takahashi Mototane went back to sleep at Ieyasu’s place, Miyazaki Castle was returned to Mototane.

After that, Takahashi Mototane’s sub-castle Miyazaki Castle was abandoned due to One Country One Castle policy. Nowadays, there is almost nothing left on the castle ruins.
