[Description]
Takada Castle is a flatland castle located in Honmaru, Takada City, Bungo, Oita Province.
In order to differentiate Echigo Takada Castle, it is called Bungo Takada Castle.
It is said that the castle was built by Takada Shigesada in Kenkyu 7 year (1196). And Mr. Takada severed as the vassal of Mr. Outomo for generations throughout Sengoku Era.

Bunroku 2 year (1593), when [Outomo Yoshimune] was replaced, [Takenaka Shigetoshi] was appointed as the castle owner and carried out the renovation of the castle. After that, it was Mr. Hosokawa’s territory for a while. Kanei 16 year (1639), [Matsudaira Shigenao] transferred from Ryuou Jinya, and Takada Clan was established.

However, Shigenao was transferred to Bungo Kitsuki in Shoho 2 year (1645), and Takada Castle was abandoned. After that, Kanbun 9 year (1669), [Matsudaira Tadafusa] got promotaion in Hizen Shimabara. In order to rule Bunzen and Bungo, he established Jinya at Honma trace of Katada Castle.
Soil and moats are still left on the current castle ruins.
