Incidentally, the father-in-law of 「Tadateru」 was Masamune Date. Although 「Tadateru」seemed to be a great daimyo who possessed 750,000 koku of Takada domain, and it seems that he had been neglected by his father, Ieyasu Tokugawa, and his older brother Hidetada Tokugawa, who became the second shogun.

From this fact, he had a late time in the Siege of Osaka, and he had a conflict with the hatamoto (Banner men) of his elder brother Hidetada. Because of overlapping variety of factors, Ieyasu is being replaced as the Second generation Shogun Hidetada after death. After that the lord of the Takada Domain, 「Sakai clan」, 「Matsudaira clan」「Inaba clan」, 「Toda clan」, and 「Sakakibara clan」 changed their castle lords in succession.

Eventually, the Boshin war broke out during the reign of the 「Sakakibara clan」 and the new government army, which came close to the castle town, and a new fudai daimyo (feudal lord), Takada Domain is appointed. Some feudal retainers of the clan disagreed and were dismissed and joined the Ouu Front. In the meantime, Takada Castle became a natural moat, and the stone walls were exclusively constructed using earth work.

It was a castle on the plains consisting of a typical main citadel, outer citadel, outermost region, a northern hall, and a three-ply, three-storey triple turret instead of a castle tower. After entering the Meiji Era, Haijo Rei was issued nationwide and the Takada Castle was destroyed. The current Takada Castle has been restored, and the triple turret (Substitute Castle Tower) which vanished in the early Meiji period has been restored, and it is being established as a Castle ruin park.
