[Description]
Kariya Castle is a flatland castle located in Kariya City, Aichi Province.
It was built by Mizuno Tadamasa in Tenmon 2 year (1533). [Tokugawa Ieyasu]’s mother Odai married [Matsudaira Hirotada] of Okazaki Castle from Kariya Castle.

However, Tadamasa’s son Nobumoto (Odai’s elder brother) went to sleep at Mr. Oda’s place, Odai divorced Hirotada. After that, she remarried Mr. Hisamatsu. (Matsudaira Hirotada followed Imagawa Yoshimoto)

Tensho 3 year (1575), Nobumoto listened Oda family’s vassla [Sakuma Nobumori]’s words and kicked Nobunaga out, and he was killed by Ieyasu. Kariya Castle belonged to Sakuma Nobumori. Nobumoto’s youngest brother [Tadashige] was the castle owner.

After that, Katsunari, Tadakiyo, and Mr. Mizuno ruled the area, Kanei 9 year (1632), Fukouzu Mr. Matsudaira entered the castle. After that, Hisamatsu Matsudaira, Mr. Inagaki’s 3 generations, Mr. Abe’s 2 generations, Mr. Honda, Mr. Miura was the castle owner one after another. Eikyo 4 year (1747), Mr. Doi accepted the horner and ruled this place until the end of Shogun.
